It's Off Season And Time For Repairs
My last track day was January 3rd. The next track day for me is April 18. Sebring is tied up with testing for the 12 hour race comming up in March. I take this time to freshen uop the car for next season. One of the issues I have is I am getting alot of oil in my intercooler. The problem had been getting worse with each track day. I decided to do a leakdown test on my cylinders and the test showed 18% leakdown on one and 14% on another. The rest were good with numbers under under 8%. So I decided to pull the motor out and send it to the machine shop for new rings.
After removing the turbo's I noticed the drivers side had alot of longitudinal shaft play. That was the source of all the oil in the intercooler. So along with new rings in the motor I am going to send the turbos out for inspection and any work they need.
My friend has a garage with a lift and we decided to pull the motor there at his shop. It took us about 20 hours of work to get the engine out and torn down to the short block. I'm taking the engine to the machine shop, and I will be shipping out the turbo's to Forced Performance.
